Dinner Dance an easy date Move to new venue reflects popularity of event By Brett Turner Contributing Writer It’s the season of romance, dinner and dancing. That may mean a lot of planning and running around to please your significant other. Or find it all in one place, an instant date night. The 2014 Sweetheart Dinner and Dance, presented by the Marriage Resource Center of the Miami Valley, will be 6-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8 at a new location, the Hollebeck Bayley Center in Springfield. “It’s a chance to go out and spend quality time together,” said Lavern Nissley, Executive Director of the Marriage Resource Center. “It’s really resonated since we began.” The annual dinner and dance combines what has made it popular for six years running. The new location reflects the increased interest as past events sold out quickly. While open to all couples, it celebrates a special occasion – National Marriage Week, Feb. 7-14. “It’s always bigger than a night out, it’s also about community resources and a bigger issue of helping marriages to succeed,” said Nissley. It starts with a buffet meal catered by Simply Delicious. Dancing follows, with live music from Par Tolliver’s band, Down Deep, with Annette Dennis and Dean Simms, which has played each Sweetheart Dinner and Dance. Nissley said the ages range from couples in their 20s to their 70s. The dress code is flexible, from business casual to formal, whatever suits the individual. Attendees can class up their appearance with a classic red rose corsage. Schneider’s Florist is offering a special on wrist or pin-on corsages. Call 937-323-4634 to reserve. Pictures will be available at the event for $12 at the event, with payment and email address due at the time of sitting. Ticket reservations must be made by noon on Tuesday, Feb. 4.
